If you are a foodie, lover of Italian food, curious about the habits of the locals and eager to try new flavours, then this is your tour!

Starting with an espresso, like Italians do, we will continue to the covered food market of San Lorenzo. Built in 1872 and called by the locals Mercato Centrale, this market is warm in summer and cool in winter, there is a lot of shouting, but also a lot of fun, and it’s filled with fresh local products. Here we observe the vendors while we discuss about the local specialties. We try pecorino cheeses, prosciutto, salami, finocchiona, olive oil, schiacciata and more, from different shops. The tour will continue with a glass of wine from an old winery and a panino col lampredotto –fresh bread sandwich- from a kiosk. We also eat cantucci, the famous almond biscuits, and different local biscuits or cakes, according to the season. The tour ends with a gelato tasting in the oldest and best gelato parlor in town, where you will try many flavors and learn the difference between ice-cream, gelato and sorbet.

In the small alleys of Florence the Renaissance atmosphere is still vivid and it is here where you find a number of skilled craftsmen, their shops and workshops, holding secrets handed down for generations to these days.

During the tour we enter in this atmosphere, visiting different spaces and trying to understand the art of craft and its beauty: a jewelry workshop, where the old tradition combines with contemporary design; a leather workshop, for classic and modern creations; a workshop of hand-made and painted etchings; a magic worshop of Commesso Fiorentino, Florentine mosaic work; an artisan perfumery, where every scent is original; and a unique space where wood frames and decorations are created.
